Job Description
Parkwest Medical Center is seeking a PATIENT CARE ASSISTANT to provide direct patient care in the Critical Care Unit. This is a full-time, 72-hour-per-payperiod night shift position operating a locked unit for a high-risk population. The role involves assisting nurses with ADLs, providing support, and maintaining a safe environment for critically ill patients.
Requirements
- Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration rates, blood pressures, weights, heights, and intake-output measurements.
- Encourage patients to turn, cough and use incentive spirometry.
- Ambulate, and assist patients in and out of bed, into wheelchairs and transport when necessary.
- Provide nutritional needs (meal trays, feeding, filling and passing out water pitchers), and provide general care (bed bath, oral hygiene, etc.).
- Perform tasks such as ROM, assisting with ambulatory devices, PHLEBOTOMY and EKG, and perform basic EKG and oxygen assistance.
- Collect urine, stool and sputum specimen.
- Follow established infection control policies.
- Document/maintain patient record.
