Job Description
The job of Teacher is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
Requirements
- Adapts classroom work for individualized learning plans
- Administers developmental testing programs and subject-specific assessments
- Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals
- Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources
- Coordinates activities to ensure availability of equipment, materials, and personnel
- Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers
- Instructs students to improve academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment
- Monitors students in various educational environments
- Participates in meetings to convey and/or gather information
- Prepares written materials to document student progress and meet mandated requirements
- Reports incidents and maintains personal safety of students
