The Technologist, Installation Planning is responsible for providing technical support in the areas of planning, data management, maintenance management and technical assistance for the Public Transportation Maintenance Unit. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the support of technical activities in the sectors of planning, data management, maintenance management and technical assistance for the Public Transportation Maintenance Unit.
Requirements
- Diploma in three (3) years of college studies in technology (CET) or high school diploma (12th grade) and professional competence certificate.
- At least five (5) years of experience in building maintenance.
- Valid professional certification from the Ontario in a relevant trade.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, such as those related to occupational health and safety, the Electrical Safety Authority, the Ontario Building Code, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (SAP)
- Knowledge of spreadsheet software (e.g. Excel)
- Knowledge of principles of equipment operation and maintenance
- Knowledge of lifting, mounting and personal protective equipment
- Knowledge of rules and regulations for enclosed spaces
- Knowledge of maintenance management principles
- Knowledge of facility management (installation energy systems, minor construction and interior and exterior services of building management)
- Knowledge of the City of Ottawa's financial processes, including purchases, inventory management and cost centre accounting
- Knowledge of relevant laws related to health and safety, and specifically the rights and obligations of workers
- Ability to perform tasks with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to establish strong interpersonal relationships with employees
- Communication skills that allow effective communication, both orally and in writing
- Ability to manipulate and import spreadsheet files into Excel and create reports in this software
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to understand specifications
- Ability to plan work and establish estimates of materials and hours to be spent on work execution
- Ability to process transactions related to work orders in SGM (SAP)
- Ability to provide training and coaching of maintenance personnel in the application of SGM (SAP)
- Ability to organize SGM (SAP) data in reports needed by supervisors and managers
- Ability to perform maintenance supervisors' replacement functions for work order processing and purchase operations
- Ability to organize preventive maintenance activities according to the functionality of the SGM (SAP) software to produce a preventive maintenance schedule
