The Baltimore City Fire Department is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Director to lead and direct all programs and activities within the Human Resources Section. The Human Resources Director is responsible for the administration, coordination, and evaluation of the full HR function.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Public Administration, Management, or a related field
- 10 years of progressively responsible HR experience, including at least 4 years in a supervisory role
- PHR or SPHR certification (or JD with practice experience in labor and employment law)
- Demonstrated proficiency in Workday
- Expert knowledge of management principles and HR best practices
- Expert knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws
- Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate HR policies, procedures, and programs aligned with organizational goals
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Ability to build trust, influence decisions, and maintain strong collaborative relationships at all levels of City government
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced, flexible environment
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience developing HR staff
- High level of personal integrity, discretion, and sound professional judgment
