Chess Variants Engineer

Chess.com is looking for a Chess Variants Engineer to build and expand our collection of Chess Variants, developing new rule sets and creative game types. The ideal candidate is a strong coder who knows how to turn complex rules and edge cases into elegant, playable experiences.

Requirements

• Strong TypeScript and NodeJS (or Deno) experience
• Expertise in Vue 3 and modern component-based frontends
• Familiarity with chess programming, such as engine logic, move validation, or rule variants
• Experience creating multiplayer or interactive browser-based games is a plus
• Comfortable collaborating across teams and time zones
• Chess player or enthusiast (bonus if you love weird variants!)
• Creative, curious, and always learning
