The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for performing tasks defined in the NAPRA Standards Practice for Pharmacy Technician practice from the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP). The technician must maintain accurate computerized patient profiles, dispense, verify and deliver inpatient and outpatient prescriptions, and distribute and maintain inventory of all pharmaceuticals. The technician must also maintain stock of pharmaceuticals, labels, containers, and other supplies within the pharmacy work areas and record and report any shortages of pharmaceuticals or supplies. Additionally, the technician must prioritize, initiate and complete the Patients Best Possible Medication History and highlight any discrepancies to the pharmacist. The technician must also keep work areas clean, organized, and functional and maintain equipment and automation in good working condition. The technician must also report product defects, medication errors, and maintain records of pharmacy related activities and participate in statistical reports for the Pharmacy Department.
