Job Description
The Licensed Vocational Nurse within Brazos County Detention Center and Brazos County Juvenile Justice Center ensures safe, compliant, and effective patient care for incarcerated individuals, supervising nursing and support staff. They collaborate with correctional officers, providers, and administrators to promote well-being, manage clinical operations, and maintain adherence to standards. The role involves patient care, health assessments, medical documentation, care coordination, infection control, medication management, mental health support, and legal compliance within a correctional setting.
Requirements
- Graduated from a Texas Board of Nursing-approved vocational nursing program
- LVN License issued from the Texas Board of Nursing
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Basic First Aid / CPR Certificate
- Chronic disease management knowledge
- Knowledge of TB, MRSA, STDs, and outbreak management
- Experience with psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
