Bocar US is seeking a Tooling Manager to join our team in Madison, Alabama. The Tooling Manager classification is a part of the BOCAR US top management team and requires a high level of commitment and energy to help keep the company on the cutting edge of the die cast industry.
Requirements
- Schedule sufficient daily/weekly time for assessing and aggressively improving, where needed, the department’s support of the company’s short-range and long-range strategic and innovative plans including the company’s safety and quality systems.
- Develop, secure approval, implement, and control the department’s annual budget including investment plan items to support the innovation plan objectives of the department and the company.
- Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with all company safety policies for all associates.
- Recommend, purchase, and approve equipment essential for the purpose of maintaining dies.
- Provide routine and special reports to the Plant Manager.
- Plan and work within the guidelines established by the company established 3, 5, 7, and 10 year plan.
- Attend Business Conference and Strategy meeting providing input and status of the Die Maintenance department.
- Participate in daily SMED, Production, and Planning meeting activities.
- Assure proper repair is completed to all dies and department standards are followed.
- Assure the proper training of all Tooling associates to meet all safety, quality, and other required skills/knowledge as well as providing ongoing training to continually level up their skills.
- Select department Die Engineers and Coordinators and trains toward future advancement in leadership roles.
- Analyze department work force utilization, department layout and operation data such as cost, flow charts, and schedules, to determine efficient utilization of associates and equipment.
- Teach and maintain a superior 5-S plant condition.
- Assist in the Predictive and Preventive Maintenance of all area machinery.
- Communicate in a timely manner all performance points, positive or corrective.
- Participate in the short-range and long-range strategic and innovative planning processes and links all department improvement activities to the approved plans.
- Draft and present the annual Innovation Plan for the Tooling Department.
- Assure that all objectives within the Tooling Department Innovation Plan are consistent with and support BOCAR US’s 3-Year Innovation Plan.
- Train and delegate appropriate responsibilities to Tooling department personnel to carry out Innovation Plan activities.
- Provide monthly and quarterly Innovation Plan objectives.
- Develop other improvement plan activities for improving the overall efficiencies within the department.
- Apply Deming principles and other root cause analysis tools when analyzing problems and makes appropriate recommendations for improvements.
