Senior Director, People Governance and Controls

BNY is seeking a Senior Director of People Governance and Controls to lead the control environment for all People Team functions, focusing on risk management, compliance, and adherence to internal policies. This role involves assessing, developing, and executing controls frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulations, and partnering with senior leadership to evolve HR processes and automate tasks. The ideal candidate will leverage technology and innovation to improve employee experience and organizational outcomes.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive People Team/Human Resources experience with a focus on controls, governance, and risk management.
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, CCP, CRISC) preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of all People domains including payroll, benefits, talent management, and HRIS.
• Proven track record implementing controls frameworks in large, complex organizations, preferably in financial services.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements impacting People function.
• Experience leveraging automation and AI to improve HR processes and controls.
