Underground Heavy-Duty Mechanic Apprentice

Barrick operates a Gold Mine near Marathon, Ontario, in Northwestern Ontario. They are seeking a hardworking Underground Heavy-Duty Mechanic Apprentice to support the maintenance team by assisting with repair, service, and upkeep of mobile underground equipment. The position involves learning safe work practices, developing technical skills, and contributing to equipment reliability in a challenging underground mining environment.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a recognized Heavy Duty Equipment Technician apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship program.
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced underground mining environment.
• Physically fit and capable of working in confined spaces and varying underground conditions.
• Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with mine site safety protocols.
• Good communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with a desire to build a career in underground maintenance.
