Babcock is seeking a Senior Constructive Designer to design and develop solutions with a Structural focus for the integration of new sub-systems/components into existing systems. The ideal candidate brings strong technical skills, registration as an Applied Science Technologist or Certified Engineering Technologist, and eight years of experience in structural drafting and design.
Requirements
- Design and develop solutions with a Structural focus for the integration of new sub-systems/components into existing systems.
- Support the production of technical drawings and specifications to support the implementation of Engineering Changes on board Victoria Class Submarines and other Naval/Marine platforms.
- Conduct independent technical studies and assessments of marine structural elements and analyze recommended changes to existing structures to assess the design impact of proposed changes.
- Check design and drawing outputs from more junior designers, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical assistance and feedback to designers to ensure the use of correct methods and tools for assigned tasks.
- Provide marine constructive subject matter expertise and practical experience into multidisciplinary teams delivering engineering design, development, and design intent maintenance projects.
- Conduct onsite inspections/surveys as necessary.
- Participate in the development of in-house processes and tools used to support and improve the way we work.
- Collaborate with Engineers and other Designers to deliver multi-disciplinary designs that meet contracted time, cost, and quality requirements.
- Work directly, and communicate effectively, with other stakeholders, including project managers, configuration, engineering, and other departments to meet delivery targets.
- Liaise with sub-contractors to ensure design for manufacturability.
