Staff Software Engineer, Backend - Fleet Intelligence

Aurora is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Backend - Fleet Intelligence to drive the design and execution of high-impact distributed systems and services that serve as the backbone of Aurora's operational and autonomy ecosystems. The team builds platforms that unify data across vehicles, cloud systems, and operators, turning real-world signals into insights and capabilities that power autonomy, optimize fleet operations, and accelerate scale.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of experience building and operating large-scale backend or distributed systems
• Deep expertise in distributed systems design, API design, scalable service architecture, and data modeling
• Proven experience owning system architecture end-to-end, making strategic technical decisions, and driving multi-team engineering initiatives
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across engineering and operational domains
• Proficiency with Golang, cloud infrastructure, and operational tooling (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability stacks)
