Job Description
Archer is seeking a Staff Design Engineer on their Advanced Projects Gearbox team to contribute to the design, development, and testing of their all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. The role focuses on optimizing gearbox performance, safety, and reliability through careful engineering and cross-functional collaboration. This position involves leading design efforts, analyzing data, and ensuring adherence to design standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, physics, or related field
- Minimum of 8-12+ years of rotorcraft gearbox design experience
- Proven experience with gear specification, material selection, heat treatments, shaft layouts, bearing selection, spline rating, housing design, seal selection, and lubrication methods
- Experience with transmission and driveline testing procedures (aircraft or dynamometer)
- Technical Expertise (Proficiency in CAD modeling, FEA software, and knowledge of manufacturing processes)
- Availability for domestic travel
