Altruist is seeking a Senior Back End Engineer, Data Platform to design and build scalable data pipelines and data serving platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience in software engineering, data pipelines, and service-oriented architecture, and a passion for AI and financial services. This is a hybrid role with a base in San Francisco, CA.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience
- Familiarity with one or more object-oriented programming languages, Python or Java preferred
- Experience building applications on top of database systems and working with data warehouses and ETL pipelines
- Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, especially AWS and Kubernetes
- Proficiency in using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) as part of the software development workflow
- 4-8 years of experience working with data pipelines and service-oriented architecture, ideally at a B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organization
- Experience with data warehouses such as Snowflake, data orchestration tools such as Airflow, and data transformation and modeling tools such as dbt
- B.A. / B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
