Director/Chief Dog Warden - Canine Care & Control

The Director of Lucas County Canine Care & Control Department directs daily operations and staff supervision. This role involves enforcing state animal control regulations, managing dog seizure and impoundment, handling complaints, and promoting public awareness of dog licensing. The director will work under the direction of the County Administrator and oversee the training and implementation of programs to comply with federal, state, and local requirements.

Requirements

• Serves in capacity of Dog Warden for Lucas County.
• Supervises staff, including Deputy Director, Canine Care Center Supervisor, and Veterinarian.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local dog care & sheltering requirements.
• Develops and coordinates a public communications strategy.
• Negotiates canine related emergency service contracts.
