
Job description
The Power Systems Modeling Engineer - Distribution will maintain up-to-date power flow models, work with model consumers to develop modeling standards, and stay current on industry best practices. The role will also ensure accurate models through a standard model validation process, work to resolve data quality issues, and host capacity analysis using EPRI DRIVE. The engineer will support Xcel's Distribution System Plans and other regulatory filings, and work to integrate distribution planning efforts with transmission, resource, and gas planning.
The Power Systems Modeling Engineer - Distribution will perform activities such as model maintenance, model validation & data quality, hosting capacity analysis, and grid modernization & regulatory support. The engineer will also coordinate/lead projects or portions of projects, and provide ongoing technical support for project activities within areas such as Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, Regulatory, etc.
The Power Systems Modeling Engineer - Distribution is an entry-level position designed to develop technical expertise in a particular area of specialty. The role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum, and 0+ years of relevant engineering experience. The engineer will work under supervision and follow established procedures, and may supervise or coordinate the work of interns, drafters, craft personnel, technicians, and/or others.
