The Advanced Practice Provider provides direct patient care, in collaboration with consulting physicians and the multidisciplinary health team, to include identification, management, and/or referral of health problems.
Requirements
- Provide direct patient care and formulate plan of care in collaboration with physician, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the Credentials Committee.
- Communicate follow-up plan/disposition with the follow-up health care provider.
- Prescribe and evaluate pharmacological therapies according to protocol.
- Attend both high and low risk deliveries as needed.
- Initiate CPR and perform therapeutic techniques to stabilize a compromised infant in the delivery room, NICU, emergency room and referring hospitals as needed.
- Stabilize and transport patients as needed.
- Demonstrate in-depth understanding of current professional and legal trends, concepts and issues related to practice.
- Identify educational needs of family members and assist with teaching as appropriate.
- Ensure that appropriate systems and resources are in place to maintain established standards of care.
- Participate in self and peer evaluation to improve quality of care.
- Participate in the development, review and evaluation of policies and procedures.
- Participate in developing and implementing QI monitoring.
- Participate in providing in-service and outreach education program.
- Act as resource for clinical skills for staff on or of the unit.
- May participate in clinical research projects conducted by supervising physicians.
- Serve as preceptor to APP students.
- Evaluates goals and outcomes considering the benefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness for the patient, family and the organization.
- Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions needed to achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient’s plan of care.
- Has a deep understanding and response to adverse drug reactions, with special attention to vulnerable populations such as infants, children, pregnant and lactating women, or older adults.
- Develops and coordinates APP training and professional development activities.
- Performs other related work as needed.
