Administrative Assistant I, General, Electrophysiology Outpatient

The Administrative Assistant I will support the Electrophysiology team in the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, ensuring patients have a world-class experience and receive timely care. The role involves scheduling appointments, data management, and performing clerical responsibilities.

Requirements

• At minimum completion of high school or equivalent
• Successful completion of a recognized data entry program or post-secondary Medical Secretary/Medical Business Office Program at the Diploma or Certification Level preferred
• Current medical clerical/data entry experience for a minimum of 2 years
• Current experience with Microsoft Office or equivalent including Excel, Word, database and spreadsheet programs
• Excellent data entry/keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy (minimum 60 WPM) in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
• Experience in a health care environment and a strong understanding of medical terminology
• Excellent time management skills required and the ability to complete detailed work independently
• Ability to understand verbal work orders/instructions and to follow up appropriately
• Ability to read and understand short notes, brief forms/instructions, detailed forms, standard memos/letters
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages, ratios and/or averages
• Ability to operate simple equipment
• Some problem solving skills
• Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner in accordance with UHN standards
• Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task
• Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
• Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
• Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.
