Information Management and GIS Officer - Gaza

The Information Management and GIS Officer is responsible for designing, managing, maintaining and analysing programme operational and open-source mapping data, and the production of accurate, informative mapping to assist humanitarian demining operations.

Requirements

• Designing, managing, maintaining and analysing programme operational and open-source mapping data
• Producing accurate, informative mapping to assist humanitarian demining operations
• Maintaining internal IM systems to ensure accurate and efficient collection and storage across a range of operational data on EHAs and EOD tasks
• Supervising, supporting and mentoring staff who collect any form of data, and any IM Assistants
• Producing maps and other GIS information products
• Managing data in HALO’s Global Operations Information Management System (GO-IMS)
• Establishing a clear data flow across HALO’s platforms and UNMAS’ with stated quality assurance and control mechanisms to ensure accuracy
• Designing and implementing mobile data collection forms and data flows to assist efficient and effective field-level operations
• Designing and maintaining programme databases and datasets as required
• Designing and implementing training sessions with operational and support staff in the use of physical and digital/mobile data collection techniques
• Producing programme geospatial data related to HALO mine action operations
• Producing accurate, informative and creative mapping using ArcGIS and Google Earth to inform and guide operations
• Producing maps, infographics and other data visualisation to accompany donor reports, presentations and for other external publications and uses
• Using HALO internal data, open source, and other data with IM and GIS tools to produce analysis of the presence and impact of mines and other explosives
• Maintaining and developing HALO’s prioritisation matrix using open sources, in line with operational requirements to identify areas in need of HMA support
