
Job description
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Flight Dynamics Engineer to join the Earth Orbit Flight Dynamics Department (EOFDD). The selected candidate will provide expertise for a wide range of customer flight mechanics needs, supporting both analysis and research and development requests. The work will require candidates to provide deep technical solutions while also collaborating with engineering partners to facilitate integrated solutions for our customers' hardest problems.
Primary responsibilities include trajectory design and optimization for launch vehicles and spacecraft, astrodynamics and orbital mechanics analysis, and evaluating contested mission applications for space systems. The selected candidate will also develop Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), explore Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), and incorporate operational constraints into the design and maturation of space systems.
To be successful in this role, candidates should have a strong background in flight mechanics, astrodynamics, and trajectory optimization. Experience with nonlinear programming, direct methods, and gradient-based optimization is also highly desirable. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of challenging projects and collaborate with a team of experienced engineers.
