Texas A&M University is hiring a Senior IT Professional to join the Architecture and Engineering department. This role will serve as a senior resource, applying expertise in virtualization, containerization, Kubernetes, and library specific complex data systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8 years of related information technology experience
- Experience working with Linux operating systems and directory services such as OpenLDAP, as well as experience with Microsoft Active Directory/Entra
- Experience in virtualization, storage, backup systems, and disaster recovery
- Experience deploying applications and systems in public cloud environments (Google, Azure, AWS)
- Experience with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD processes, using platforms like GitHub or GitLab
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and Container orchestration
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Node.js, HCL, Terraform
- Experience supporting client interactions and gathering requirements to ensure effective solutions
- Experience collaborating with partners and contributing to solution integration efforts that enhance operational efficiency
- Practical experience with automation technologies such as Ansible, Chef, and Puppet, and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Pulumi
- Experience writing and consuming REST APIs and cloud web services like Azure, AWS and GCP
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and approaches
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, facilitating knowledge sharing and solution integration
- Eagerness to engage in professional development activities to continuously advance skills and knowledge
- Familiarity with strategic thinking, planning skills, and project portfolio management
- Basic understanding of IT industry trends, security regulations, and emerging IT issues
- Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM frameworks and understanding of context/interrelationships in project management
- Knowledge of network protocols and theory, including TCP/IP and OSI layers, with a basic understanding of load balancing
- Solid knowledge of databases, particularly BigQuery, MySQL, and MS-SQL
