
Job description
The Senior Juvenile Probation Officer will work with adolescents and their families to provide case management, referrals, and assessments. They will conduct home and school visits, initiate contact with victims, and use Motivational Interviewing to engage the youth and family. The officer will also obtain and review collateral information, conduct and document FDJJ screenings and assessments, and facilitate the completion of comprehensive assessments.
The Senior Juvenile Probation Officer will conduct face-to-face contacts with the youth and family, provide technical assistance and conduct case reviews with staff, and prepare and maintain current social histories, court reports, and referral letters. They will also testify at hearings, communicate and distribute the outcome of court proceedings, and provide crisis intervention and support to the youth and family.
The ideal candidate will have four years of experience working directly with adolescents in the criminal justice or social services field. They will be able to provide counseling and guidance to others, conduct and document fact-finding interviews, and make recommendations concerning the processing, handling, and disposition of delinquent youth.
