Registered Practical Nurse_FT-Contract

LOFT Community Services is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join their interdisciplinary team. The RPN will be responsible for providing direct nursing care, developing strategies for the management of recovery and psychosocial rehabilitation, and liaising with community agencies and healthcare providers.

Requirements

• Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Graduate of a recognized program for Registered Practical Nurse
• Medication Administration Certification or completion of an RPN education preparation program that includes medication administration
• Experience with vulnerable older adults and seniors with serious mental illness, cognitive, addiction and responsive behavioural challenges
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Knowledge of social services and community resources and supports for adults and seniors
• Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
• An understanding of recovery and psychosocial rehabilitation principles and the therapeutic relationship
• Well-developed problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills
• Self-directed, results oriented and capable of working independently as well as in a team environment
• Physically able to perform demanding body mechanics (i.e. lifting, transferring, Hoyer, etc.)
• Counselling, responding and assessment skills
• Good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy, including MS Word and Excel
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other members of inter-professional care teams, clients, family members and community team members
