Personal Support Worker_FT-Contract

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for rendering a range of services for the clients of the program, including physical, cognitive, mental health, and social/recreational needs. The PSW will support the needs of vulnerable, at-risk, older adults and seniors living in multi-sites under the auspices of the program.

Requirements

• Diploma/Certificate or above in Human Services, Gerontology or Personal Support Worker from a recognized college or university (preferred)
• First Aid and CPR training
• Experience with clients with unique special needs, including cognitive impairment and/or mental health issues
• Knowledge of medication, general health, and psychiatric conditions
• Ability to organize activities and work with individuals and groups in assessment, problem solving, and crisis management
• Ability to interact with clients in a positive and supportive manner
• Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary professionals and other staff in a team environment
• Good oral and written English skills
• Computer skills required
• Possession of a valid Ontario Driver's License (preferred)
• Physically able to perform demanding body mechanics (e.g. lifting, transferring, etc.)
• A satisfactory vulnerable sector check (VSC) is also required
