Registered Practical Nurse

The Registered Practical Nurse will work in a supportive housing model to provide holistic health care to residents, working closely with an interdisciplinary team. The role requires a high level of resilience and a willingness to work with individuals who have experienced marginalization. The nurse will assist with medication management, provide health teaching, and promote the vision and values of Indwell.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved Registered Practical Nursing program
• Experience in community nursing with a focus on mental health services is an asset
• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Evidence of appropriate insurance as stipulated by the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) with the information therein acceptable by Indwell to meet the operational requirements of the program- at one’s own cost
• Current BLS First Aid & CPR Certification from an approved provider that meets Ontario provincial standards or willingness to register for the training within 30 days of employment-reimbursement by Indwell
• Familiarity with the Ontario Common Assessment of Need is an asset
• Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, addictions or other special needs
• A warm, sensitive and caring attitude
• Ability to work independently, be flexible, organized, responsible, and take initiative
• Preparation to problem solve and handle crises with clear rational thinking
• Proficiency to maintain excellent interpersonal relationships
• A valid “G” class driver’s license with own vehicle
