As a Mechanical Staff Engineer, you will develop next-generation satellite structures, deployable mechanisms, and related hardware, collaborating with other engineering teams to achieve common goals.

- Experience as a technical lead and people lead
- Skilled in both design and practical mechanical lab work, capable of using hand tools and working on proof of concepts
- Able to perform hand calculations for fast concept implementation and simple design creation
- Balances quick, efficient design with a process-oriented approach
- Excellent Communication: Interfaces with directors, team leads, project managers, and stakeholders; adept at technical conflict resolution and guiding technical teams
- Manufacturing Collaboration: Works directly with manufacturers to optimize designs for manufacturability
- Mentorship and Teaching: Proven track record of mentoring engineers and a noticeable passion for teaching others
- Problem-Solving: Experienced in overcoming significant design challenges and taking projects from start to finish successfully
- Expertise in designing complex mechanical systems, including deployable mechanisms
- Satellite Structures Experience: Proven experience with satellite structures and validating mechanical platforms for launch
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Proficiency: Skilled in FEA tools and intuitive in design to minimize unnecessary iterations
- Thermal Design Basics: Understands thermal principles to create functional mechanical structures, even if suboptimal
- End-to-End Mechanical Design: Proficient from concept to maintenance, excelling in concept and design phases for both composite and metallic structures
- CAD Fluency: Proficient in CAD tools like Inventor and SolidWorks
- Manufacturing Expertise: Deep understanding of manufacturing processes for both metallic and composite materials, including CFRP
- Process and Cost Awareness: Knowledgeable about the impact of design choices on manufacturing costs, time, and weight
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Machinery: Understands advantages and drawbacks of machinery and modifies processes for success
- PDM and PLM Systems: Familiar with Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
