The ideal candidate for this unit will possess a strong interest in Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgical Intermediate Nursing Care; Additionally, a desire to be part of a Nursing Team dedicated to exemplary patient outcomes and patient experience.
Requirements
- Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Direct and guide patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel.
- Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
- Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
- Formulate, coordinate, and provide plan of care as established in unit standards including, patient and family education, family needs and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise plan of care based upon patient response to interventions.
- Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members and take action to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
- Make assignments in collaboration with other team members.
- Direct and alter assignments in response to changes in patient situations.
- Promote teamwork by delegating tasks to team members based on skill, expertise, time availability, acuity, and needs of the patient.
- Problem solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
- Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice.
- Actively participate as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization and be accountable for unit and system specific metrics.
- Support and participate in initiatives that support the Magnet mission.
- Actively participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
