The Electric Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the orderly and economic additions, upgrades, and maintenance of the Georgetown electric distribution system. The supervisor directs activities related to system planning, system maintenance, and operation of distribution and substation facilities, and provides engineering support for distribution design, CIP, and Operations.
Requirements
- Directs, coordinates, and oversees activities related to system planning, System maintenance, operation of distribution and substation facilities, and provides engineering support for distribution design, CIP, and Operations.
- Supervises Georgetown's DER interconnection program.
- Supervises the staff responsible for the maintenance and update of the engineering software systems such as GIS, Engineering Analysis, Outage Management, and design software.
- Supervises the System Protection and Distribution Automation activities.
- Supervises and performs system modelling for planning and coordination, project management, data analytics, and electrical design review.
- Leads in the development of planning strategies, planning studies, and system protection applications of the electric system and provide detailed recommendations for addressing any identified limitations or risk or for making electric system efficiency and operating improvements.
- In collaboration with other Engineering and Operations stakeholders, responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and management of Georgetown's System reliability improvement plan.
- In collaboration with system operations and operations supervision responsible for developing and updating switching and load shed plans.
- Provide back-up support to the electric system operators for the outage coordination function, including assistance in operating studies for the development of operating guides, evaluate switching scenarios, perform load flow studies, and assist with switch order development.
- In collaboration with the Electric Engineering Manager, lead technical efforts in the development and modification of engineering design standards, specifications, and material units and specifications.
- Assist the Electric Engineering Manager in the development of written technical documents such as procedures, design criteria, specifications, and reports.
- Prepare multi-year distribution work plans and associated three-year and long-range transmission and substation studies required by TO/TOP/ISO.
- Assist the Electric Engineering Manager in annual budget preparation for capital and non-capital expenditures.
- Represent Georgetown Electric in TO/TOP/ISO planning processes and coordinate with neighboring utilities on transmission and substation system planning.
- In collaboration with Electric Engineering Manager, responsible for the development of load forecast needed for TO/TOP/ISO and other internal departmental uses such as purchase power and financial forecasting.
- Provides engineering and operations staff with subject matter expertise in supporting departmental and organizational initiatives.
