Propane Service Tech I

Propane Service Tech I performs various tasks including installing and removing cylinder gas systems, tank and meter systems, and bulk usage systems. Responsible for operating and performing minor maintenance on propane equipment. Must have a valid Florida Driver’s license and obtain a Florida Commercial Driver's License Class

Requirements

• Valid Florida Driver’s license
• Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License Class "B" with endorsement code "X"
• DOT Physical every two (2) years
• Ability to write and print legibly
• Ability to read at normal comprehensive level
• Mechanical inclination
• Ability to perform duties responsibly and safely
• Ability to utilize company mobile device
• Keen sense of smell and adequate hearing and eyesight
• Tact and suitable personality for customer contact
• Good physical condition and capability to do manual labor
• Ability to read street maps and travel to dispatched locations
• Ability to read gauges and meters
• Ability to direct the work of others
• Certification to render first aid and artificial resuscitation
• Willingness to work overtime
• Familiarity with company policies and procedures
• Ability to distinguish between propane and natural gas
• Calm judgment and ability to act on it in emergencies
• Ability to identify meters and regulators by size and type
• Ability to visually identify propane tanks by size and type
• Familiarity with NFPA 54, NFPA 58, and Florida Building Fuel Gas Code
• Familiarity with piping, valving, operation, and maintenance of company’s propane bulk plant, filling station, and service trucks
• Ability to operate and perform minor maintenance on propane equipment
• Ability to use pipe locating equipment and leak detection and locating equipment
• Certification to perform P.E. heat fused and mechanical joints
• Ability to use clear and legible drawings and/or written records of work operations
• Ability to operate a boom truck to remove and install customer tanks
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned
