The position of In-House Legal Counsel is a full-time, permanent role within the Legal Affairs team. The successful candidate will provide practical and timely legal advice to the Asset Management and Wealth Management sectors in Canada on strategic and tactical matters related to securities laws. The role involves preparing prospectuses for investment funds and other continuous information documents, negotiating contracts, and conducting research on complex legal issues. The ideal candidate will have an LL.B. degree, membership in a provincial bar association, and at least 3 years of relevant experience in the legal field. They will have practical knowledge of securities laws, corporate law, and investment funds, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving skills, and discernment.
Requirements
- LL.B. degree and membership in a provincial bar association
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in the legal field
- Practical knowledge of Regulation 31-103 and Regulations 81-101 to 81-107, investment funds and other mutual funds, institutional investments, and securities law and corporate law in general
- Experience with an independent review committee
- Motivation, autonomy, and team work skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, practical problem-solving skills, and discernment
- Proven ability to write agreements or information documents for the public
- Proven ability to complete various projects proactively
