The Intermediate Interior Designer is responsible for delivering Space Layout & Interior Design, Functional Space Planning and Furniture Procurement Support services. They will support information gathering, needs analysis, space planning and design development activities for complex projects as well as working drawings for low complexity design projects.
Requirements
- Supports the Sr Workplace Strategist and other studio members in information gathering and functional planning activities.
- Develops stacking and blocking plans as well as detailed space requirements workbooks.
- Develops room data sheets for typical and special purpose spaces as required by the project.
- Supports the delivery of information gathering work-shops.
- Participates in needs analysis and requirements documentation.
- Applies information from the functional program through space layout and design activities to translate requirements into functional space layouts in AutoCAD.
- Develops interior design and furniture concept documents including research of materials/finishes as required.
- Develops digital presentations to communicate design concepts, options and intent in support of client decision making.
- Renders design ideas in the form of 3-D renderings, work drawings, plans, models and schemes using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Performs site verification, site measurements, furniture inventory and equipment inventory.
- Delivers space planning services including layouts for reconfigurations and or minor modifications.
- Develops complete working drawing packages and specifications for low complexity design projects in accordance with all applicable codes and standards.
- Provides other interior design services as required.
- Complies with all regulatory, environmental, health and safety requirements.
- Incorporates sustainable practices, where practical, into project delivery, in accordance with client and BGIS processes.
- Completes technical assessments of client locations in support of strategic planning and programs.
- Develops detailed furniture specifications and documentation required to procure furniture in accordance with the client standards, requirements and supply arrangements and procurement policies.
- Develops detailed workpoint typicals to communicate functional requirements including 3D models.
- Coordinates furniture specifications and requirements with internal and external consultants for effective implementation of space based projects.
- Supports the development of tender documents for the client.
- Finalizes orders including finishes, quantities and other details upon client furniture tender awards.
- Supports the hand-off of delivery and installation of furniture to the MAC team and provides guidance and consultation as required through the implementation process.
- Manages time on different tasks effectively and reports delays, barriers to progress and or schedule impacts to their project lead.
- Supports the development and management of project reporting materials.
- Reports progress to the project lead on a regular basis to support the effective management of project schedules and costs.
- Consults with and maintains relationships with client representatives at the project level.
- Maintains positive relations to meet client objectives.
- Effectively and pro-actively communicates with concerned parties, such as Clients, contractors and and project lead to ensure Client satisfaction and BGIS’s success.
- Develops strong internal relationships with other line of business in order to ensure alignment and promote and support integrated delivery of services – One BGIS.
- Provides mentoring to junior team members through knowledge sharing.
- Maintains strong industry relationships.
