The Registered Nurse RN will supervise nursing personnel and daily nursing activities under the direction of the Director of Nursing, ensuring high-quality care in accordance with professional standards and federal, state, and local regulations.
Requirements
- Monitor daily delivery of nursing care and staff performance
- Plan and conduct shift staff meetings
- Identify and implement corrective action for problem areas
- Make written and oral reports to the Director of Nursing
- Develop methods for coordinating nursing services
- Investigate accidents and incidents
- Interpret policies and procedures to personnel, residents, and visitors
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information
- Develop work assignments and delegate tasks
- Make daily rounds and follow up on complaints
- Report suspected abuse and ensure emergency equipment checks
- Maintain a clean and safe resident environment
- Participate in orientation program for new nursing staff
- Complete performance evaluations and initiate disciplinary action
- Ensure nursing personnel comply with policies and procedures
- Monitor time and attendance and make recommendations for employee dismissals
- Identify learning needs and plan in-services
- Monitor equipment usage and recommend equipment and supply needs
- Oversee nursing care to ensure safe and efficient services
- Inform nursing staff of new admission arrivals and prepare rooms
- Review nurse's notes and provide direct care as necessary
- Start and restart IV's, ensure medication passes and treatments comply with physician orders
- Inspect nursing treatment areas and meet with family members and residents
- Consult with residents, family, and physicians on care planning
- Assist in arranging transportation and participate in quality improvement programs
- Participate in facility surveys and committee meetings
- Implement recommendations and perform Performance Improvement audits
- Adhere to employee health, safety, security, and corporate compliance programs
- Assist in developing safety standards and ensure personnel follow procedures
- Report malfunction of equipment and participate in annual physicals
- Conduct all activities within resident abuse prevention manual and cooperate with investigations
- Report all accidents and incidents, correct unsafe conditions, and respond to fire/disaster drills and emergencies
