Dementia Unit Manager

The Unit Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Services Department and the Dementia Unit in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards governing the facility to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Requirements

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients/residents on a designated unit (sub-acute or dementia care) on a shift basis
• Establish and maintain a positive rapport with patients/residents, family members, visitors, etc., in providing direct nursing care
• Properly complete required documentation on daily flow sheets
• Maintain special precautions for certain diagnoses; e.g., hip precautions for patients/residents with hip replacements, etc.
• Actively participate in performance improvement activities and special projects, as required or as assigned
• Perform all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner
• Remain flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs
